Reid you are 1

We took Reid to the doctor today to get his one year check up and his shots. Reid did so good. He seems to be getting better about not being so shy all the time. In the past anytime anyone would approach him and talk to him he would cry. Slowly but surely he is getting over that.

Reid is now weighing 24.12 lbs, which is the 75th percentile and is 31 1/4 inches tall; which is in the 95th percentile. He has only gained .12 ounces since he was 9 months old. I guess he hit his growth spurt early on.

One issue Reid is having is at the bottom of his rib cage one of his ribs seem to be poking out so we have to go and see a Pediatric Orthopedic to have it looked at.

We are having so much fun with Reid now. He is mimicking every thing we do.

He will pant like a dog, pucker his lips up for a kiss, wave bye bye backwards, click his tongue and raise his arms up in the air when we say praise the Lord. He is the funniest thing ever. It makes us laugh every time.

He is drinking whole milk now. The transition was pretty easy. He doesn't like that it is so cold, but other than that he has done fine.

He would rather eat baby food than table food. He is not crazy about the textures in his mouth when eating table food.

He is still in size 4 diapers and is wearing mostly 18 month clothes.

He mainly says mama and dada but mainly mama now for everything.

He no longer takes a paci during the day. Only at nap and bedtime.

He is crawling everywhere and pulling up on everything, but doesn't look like any signs of walking any time soon.

His favorite thing to do is play with balls. He can sit for hours and play with them. He likes to grab two of the same color balls and then bang them together.

He drinks 3 sippies a day of milk and then water. He still hates juice.

He goes to bed around 7 each night and sleeps till between 6 and 7 each morning. He then naps around 11:30 each day and naps for 2 hours.

He still cries as soon as we get into church each week. He knows he is about to be dropped off in the nursery. However, he did move up to an older class last week and he did much better. He is not with the babies anymore and he seems to like that better.

Happy Birthday Reid

Reid I can't believe you are already one. Today has been so sweet and special. I am so proud to be your mother. In the beginning I really dreaded this day. I wasn't sure if dreaded it because you are growing so fast or that meant I was closer to having to go back to work. After speaking with my friend Angela she made me realize there wasn't anything to be sad about, but instead I should be thankful that I had him and that I was celebrating his birthday. She is so right and so today has been all about celebrating and embracing the fact that you are one year old.

You have brought more joy to my life than I could have ever imagined. We will go to the doctor on Friday and we will have your measurements.

Your Kay-K and Pop came into town today to celebrate your birthday and we have had the best time. Your birthday party will be Saturday and we will celebrate with your friends, but tonight we celebrated with Kay-K and Pop. Your Mimi and Granddaddy will be here tomorrow. They are very excited about seeing you.

Here are some pictures from his birthday celebration we had tonight.

Pancakes and Mama

We gave Reid pancakes for the first time this morning. He seemed to like them, until I gave him his yogurt. After he tasted his yogurt it was almost impossible to get him to eat the pancakes anymore. Note to self, don't give him yogurt while trying to feed him pancakes. But, I am happy that he would rather have the healthier stuff. ha

We took a few pictures of Reid before we left yesterday. Can't believe his birthday is in 4 days.

Reid also started whole milk this week. He seems to like it ok, but it is a little cold for him. Also he went through a half gallon of milk in 3 days so I was out searching this morning at a local store for organic milk. We will need to buy more at a time for sure.

Reid Video

Here are a few videos from this past week.

He loves to look in the mirror at himself and try to kiss his self. It is so funny. He also has started mimicking us. I will click my tongue and then he will do it. Justin started fake laughing and then Reid started. We tried so hard to capture it on video tonight, but he wasn't wanting to cooperate.

He also crawls as fast as he can after his daddy when Justin leaves out of the back door. Tonight he was looking out the glass while Justin was grilling and then Reid started trying to kiss his daddy through the glass.

Also he loves to do patty cake and when you stop he will grab your hands and start trying to get you to clap them together.

He is just the sweetest boy with the best personality.

Vacation

We have been in Perdido FL for the last several days. I have to say this is the most beautiful water I have seen since we went to Jamaica. We have been to Orange Beach year after year and I can not recall a time when the water has been this blue and clear. We can see the bottom of the ocean and all the fish swimming. It has been a great reminder all week of the beautiful things God has created for us. We have been here with some of our best friends this week. The Waltman's and the Sullivan's. I am not sure why we never got a picture of all of us, but we have enjoyed spending time with them.

I will warn you this post will be picture overload, but I want to have these documented because Reid is growing so fast and I am so sad that he is going to be 1 in 2 weeks.

What I did learn is it is impossible to get three children to sit and look at the camera at the same time, but we did our best.

All because I am a planner

I know we are still in the thick of summer and it is unbearably hot outside, but with Reid leaving for daycare in October; I have been thinking about what will Reid wear. Reid does not own a single long sleeve shirt or pair of pants; so that got me thinking it was time to start looking for fall and winter items on sale.

We found some long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts and pants all from gap for 5 and 10 dollars. I bought Reid 18-24 months in his jeans thinking this will get him through the fall and winter and as you can see below they already fit... aghhhhh what am I going to do with this big boy. Guess I might need to try other brands first and then try some 24 month jeans on him.

I think he looks so handsome in his jeans. What do you think?
