Easter 2013

We spent lots of time hunting Easter eggs and teaching Reid about the real reason we celebrate Easter.  We kept telling him we are celebrating because Jesus Rose from the grave and so every now and then I would say Reid why are we celebrating Easter and one time he said because Santa Rose..... o my sweet boy..and then other times he would say Jesus grows...... he tried.  He did catch on by the time Easter came.

I told Justin on the way to church that Easter has become my favorite holiday. I love Christmas, but the hustle and  bustle and all the gifts we get to caught up in that and not enough reason why we are celebrating. (makes me feel guilty) but Easter is much slower and we focus more on the true reason we are celebrating and it makes me have a different feeling inside, a feeling of excitement.. I just want to jump up and shout and tell everyone did you know that He is risen.....That we serve a living God.  Every song we sing that the tomb is empty makes me want to cry...

I also love that we are always home for Easter and we celebrate in our church... there is something special about being at home with your church family.

Reid spent a lot of time hunting Easter eggs and being with friends.. he hunted eggs at school, at church and then after Easter lunch.  What surprised me the most was Meg, she really enjoyed hunting the eggs and putting them in her basket.  Once all the eggs were found she would start stealing eggs from everyone else's baskets and putting them in hers.  You can see from a picture below she climbed under a huge bush just to retrieve her egg.  I am glad she showed an interest.

Meg's 1st Birthday

This post is so behind, but I don't sit down with the laptop very often. I have known I needed to get this done, or we will blink and we will be celebrating her 2nd birthday. Time is flying by so quickly. Meg had a great first birthday party, we were so lucky with the weather. Her birthday is in December and we went to the park for her party and it was near 80 degrees that day.  We were so blessed with great weather and great friends that came and helped celebrate.

We did a candy/cupcake themed party.  Meg was a great sport and she would clap and laugh at each present she opened like it was her favorite thing she received.  She and I were very thankful for everything and everyone.

Some stats on Meg:  She started walking near 13 months, she eats everything you give her, she is wearing size 4 diapers and wears most 18 month clothes.  She says thank you, bye bye, hey, mama, dada and then points for everything else.  She is a great sleeper. She goes to bed at 6 each night and sleeps all night. I usually get her up around 730 each morning.  She only takes a paci at nap and bedtime.  She takes two naps a day.  She is very social and she is really happy now that she is a full time walker.

At her one year appointment she weighed 23lbs. Reid weighed 24 lbs. When I looked back at his pictures, I am reminded how much Reid and Meg resemble.

Christmas 2012

Christmas was spent with all of our family and we had a great time. Despite all the sickness that hit us before and during Christmas we still had a wonderful time. Reid was diagnosed with the croup the week before Christmas and then Meg go it the week of Christmas and she had 102.5 temp. I was so worried about her and then of course Justin and I got sick with bad colds, but we didn't let any of that slow us down.

We spent Christmas in Amory, Hickory Flat and TN. We managed to make the rounds and see everyone. Reid was so excited this year. He was so ready for Santa and to see his cousins Blake, Emily and Sarah Kate.

We went to Granny's and Reid had a blast with all of his cousins and getting his gifts.  We had great food and was so good to see Granny.
