Reids First Thanksgiving

We celebrated Reid's first Thanksgiving. We were gone for 10 days and we had a wonderful time with family. We started out at my parents house where Reid was able to meet his first cousin Blake. Blake really didn't' know what to think about Reid.

Granddaddy was loving on his boy.... Reid sat with Granddaddy and watched football. I think this is when the love of TV started for Reid.

We were also able to visit friends who had not seen Reid yet. We had a really good time with my parents.

We then went to Collierville, TN to spend time with the in-laws. We had a wonderful time while we were there. They really spoil all of us each time we go for a visit. While we were there Justin's brother Steve and sil Laurie were there with their two girls. We loved getting to see our nieces.

This is a picture of Kay-K and Pop with all of their grandchildren. Let me tell you this is not an easy job getting them all to sit together. I love this picture of Sarah Kate checking Reid out. I think this is as close as she was allowed to get all week since she had been sick herself.

This is a picture of Reid and Emily. She really wanted to love on him, but she had been sick so she just had to look at him most of the time.

Emily really warmed up to us this time and we had the best time playing with her. She loves her Uncle Justin and she and I would plan to go and wake Uncle Justin up each morning by tickling him. At the end of the week we went back to my parents house before heading back to the coast. It is so nice that both our families live close together so that we can visit with both each holiday. While we were in TN, Reid was able to meet his Great Grandmother "Granny" and all of his cousins. I think Reid was a little overwhelmed when we got there. There were so many people and so many different Aunts and Cousins that wanted to hold him. He did get upset once but we were able to feed him and then he did just fine. We are so glad Granny was able to see Reid and we will see her again at Christmas.

Granny and Reid

Let me tell you who is going to be spoiled. This is Pop's only grandson and let me tell you Pop loved on his boy. Pop and Reid will have a special bond and I know Pop and Kay-K hated to see him leave.

Kay-K spent so much time in the kitchen and taking care of all of us she didn't get to spend much time just sitting and loving on Reid. This is one of the few pictures I was able to get of Kay-K loving on Reid.

While we were there we had so much help with Reid that I finally got a break and was able to go out shopping and finally had a "DATE" night. Justin, Steve, Laurie and I went to see the Blind Side. It was a really good movie; I think Laurie cried the whole time. She said she just loved it. It was so nice to be able to spend time together. We really hate that we only see them about once a year. I hope we will be able to get together this summer and take the kids swimming.

Reid did really good on the ride there and back. I just keep thanking God for such a wonderful, healthy baby. I was worried while we were gone that Reid would not do well since we were out of our routine for 10 days, but we arrived home Sunday afternoon and Reid has done just fine.

Reid started rice cereal this week and he has done great with it. He loves it and it seems to really help satisfy him. I think since he is such an aggressive eater we may start solids before he hits 6 months. I will talk to the pediatrician about this on his 4 month check up. Reid is now wearing 3-6 month outfits. He almost rolled over while at my parents lake house. He sure acted like he wanted to. It was so good to get home and see my sweet dogs and sleep in my own bed.

Reid and his daddy. Reid is getting so big just sitting on the couch watching TV with Daddy.

After going through all of my pictures I realized I did not have one picture of me and Reid or Reid with his Uncle Steve and Aunt Laurie. We will need to do a better job of taking pictures next time.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Reid you are three months old today

I can not begin to tell you Reid how much I love you!! You have completely changed my life. I never knew I could love someone as much as you. I knew I loved you, but I don't think I knew completely how much until last week when you were chocking and I thought you were going to die. It scared me so bad and as I rushed you to the ER I just kept praying to God to let you be ok. I was mad at myself for not knowing how to suction your nose and mouth out. Why didn't I learn this before a tragedy almost happened. I can promise you this I know how to properly suction you now. You are three months old today and you are growing so fast. One of the names I have for you is "Sweet Cheeks" you have the cutest cheeks that I have ever seen. You continue to be a very good baby and you do not fuss much. If you are crying you either are hungry, wet, poo poo diaper or fighting sleep.  I am enjoying staying home with you every day and we continue to have the best time.  Here are some of the things you are up to at 3 months:

you are sucking on your hands
you are grabbing your blanket with your hands and sticking the blanket in your mouth
you track mama and daddy as we walk past you sometimes when you are upset you only want mama to hold you (o how that makes my day)
you continue to sleep through the night (which really makes me happy)
you eat every 4 hours during the day and you are eating 6 oz each time we have started giving you an 8 oz bottle before bed at night we will try cereal in another couple of weeks
we were preparing for Hurricane Ida two days before your 3 month birthday (turns out the storm could not stay together and was down graded to tropical storm Ida) schools were closed and we had lots of rain and wind, but everyone stayed safe
you will sometimes coo at daddy and when he coo's back at you; you will in turn do it back at him...
My most favorite thing you do right now is you are laughing out loud; mostly at your daddy. You seem to think that he is really funny and when I hear you laugh back at him it just tickles me so much.

You are going to see all of your cousins in the next two weeks as you take your first trip to Mimi's and Grand daddy's and to Kay-K and Pop's. We will be going to North MS and TN for your very first Thanksgiving. I think I need to start packing your stuff up now. I am always afraid I am going to forget something you will need.

We did a video of you waking up in the morning. Look as soon as the video starts you have the biggest smile on your face. You are so happy in the mornings when you see your mama and daddy.

I didn't know Justin recorded the whole diaper change. I thought he was just recording his face.

Peter Anderson Festival

We decided to take Reid out today to his first festival. We were thinking this would be a perfect weather day to take him. The weather was going to be 75 and a little windy so I thought I would put Reid in his blue Tommy Hilfigger jogging suit, well that turned out to be a mistake. We got to the festival and after walking a mile to get there we were all sweating including Reid. Lance, Victoria and Claire went with us. Everyone was overdressed except for Lance and Claire. I think they were the only two that were comfortable. We had only been there about 10 minutes and I started taking all of Reid's clothes off. He was down to his long sleeve onsie and he was still not happy. Not to mention it was feeding time. We found a shade and I started feeding Reid and instantly he was in a better mood.. until......... a train came by and blew the horn not once but three times. It scared Reid so bad he just couldn't get calmed down after that. Justin was sweating from holding Reid trying to calm him down and the more Reid cried the more hot he became. We decided it was time to go home. Of course half way out of the festival Reid finally fell asleep but we were all too hot to turn back now.

On the way home Reid smiled, cooed and was in the best mood. I think we all felt better once we got in the air conditioner. Our next outing will include air conditioner next Sunday when we attend a Christmas vendor show.

Hope everyone had a great day. Here are a few pictures before we left when it was still cool outside.

Laurie thanks for the necklace, I had lots of compliments on it today.

November 6th 2009, Reid 12 weeks

I wanted to share with grandparents and friends how big Reid is getting. He continues to change everyday, but he is still the best baby. Reid loves his bath time and sleeping continues to be his favorite thing to do (like mommy) . This week he has discovered his hands, he likes to put them in his mouth and sucks on them. When I coo at Reid he will sometimes mock me and coo back. When daddy was playing with him he would laugh out loud. He still eats 6 oz. every 4 hours and 8 ozs. before bed. In a couple more weeks he will try cereal for the first time. Anytime I walk past Reid he follows me with his eyes. Taking care of Reid each day continues to be the best job in the world. We have posted a little video of Reid at 12 weeks old.
