From Bad to GREAT

This Sunday morning started off like any other Sunday morning. Showers, breakfast we get ready then we feed Reid breakfast and get him ready. Of course he is always in the best mood and doesn't seem to mind going to the church nursery every Sunday.

This morning we gave him Yo baby Yogurt for the first time. He seemed to really like it; we wait and let the nursery give him his bottle. We usually drop him off around 9:30 and then we take a peak at him after Sunday School around 10:45 and then pick him up at 12. Today was no different we went to check on him after Sunday School and he was taking a nap like he usually is. Except he only sleeps about 20 mins for them because he isn't swaddled, but that's ok with us because once we get home and feed him lunch he takes his normal 2 to 3 hour nap.

The way we are to know if the nursery needs us is they will (or I thought) text you on your phone to come to the nursery so I always leave my phone on vibrate and I hold it and look at it the whole time. It was about 11:15 and we were almost done singing our last song and my phone starts vibrating with a number I don't know. I punched Justin and said look and he just shrugged his shoulders like I don't know. I thought well if they leave a message maybe I can duck down in the pew and check it. They left a message, but I was too afraid to check it. Justin leans over to me and says if it is about Reid and it is bad enough they will come and get us. So in my mind I was like ok. Sing on.......

About 5 minutes later I feel a tap on my shoulder ... you need to come with me Reid is crying and has his self all worked up. Of course Justin and I take off.. you have to know Reid... he never cries so for him to be crying like this really scared me.

Ms. Barbara the nursery worker has him outside walking him and he is whaling... I pick him up and he almost sounds hoarse he has been crying so hard... He doesn't stop when I am holding him so I thought lets just get him in the car in front of his dvd movie and he will be fine (like he always is).. NOPE that did not work.. the whole car ride home he cried..Justin and I are not use to a crying baby so it really scares us when Reid does that we get very stressed over it; I mean most babies cry right.. well Reid rarely does.

In my mind I start thinking he is having an allergic reaction to that Yogurt, since that is the only thing new he ate today. Then I am thinking how would I know what an allergic reaction will look like. I am checking him over in the car and his legs are red, but then I am thinking are they red because he has been crying so hard, or is there a problem. His face is red, but again he is crying.. I didn't see red any where else on him. Justin is in the front seat saying is his eyes swelling.. I mean we were really freaking out.

We were so freaked out I was on the phone calling my mom and Justin was on the phone calling his mom. Laurie I almost called you too. ha

We got home I undressed him and turned his favorite cartoon on and all of a sudden he let out two big burps and it was like he was a different baby. He started trying to jump up and down in my lap so I put him in his jumpy and he hasn't cried since.

Matter of fact he has laughed more today than ever. Take a look at how Reid spent his afternoon. Is this not the sweetest sound you have ever heard?

We love you Reid and I am so glad you are ok

Another small milestone

Now that Reid is 6 months we try to let him practice sitting up as much as possible. We let him ride in the shopping cart at Walmart today. He is still not very sturdy, but we padded him on each side and he had the best time sitting up. I don't know that he would be that comfortable yet sitting in a high chair at a restaurant though.

We are going to Birmingham this weekend to spend some time with one of my best friends Pam. Pam found Reid a big boy car seat on Craigslist for a good deal; so we will pick that up this weekend. She found him a Britax Boulevard for 100 dollars. Pam has a little boy named Luke that is 6 weeks older than Reid. We can't wait to let Reid and Luke play together. We hope to take lots of pictures of them together this weekend.

We didn't do much this weekend. We had Reid's 6 month pictures made and then we came home and did some early spring cleaning. I love a clean house. We were on the floor so much cleaning Justin and I are both sore; even my fingers are sore. ugh

Here are a few pictures of our big boy in the shopping cart and a few pictures of Reid's sweet friend Luke. Aren't they both so cute agh I mean handsome ha.

Pam took these pictures of Luke herself. Didn't she do great.

Reid is 6 months

Time is passing so fast. I can't believe Reid is already 6 months old. He has changed so much and is doing so many things now.

Reid weighs 19.12 lbs which is in the 75th percentile and is 27.3/4 inches which is in the 90th percentile. The elderly at church call Reid Mr. Bruiser. I guess because they think he is so big. I am glad to know that his weight and height are very normal.

One thing we found out at his appointment is that the reason his cheeks are red most of the time is that he has a touch of eczema; so we are now putting Aquaphor on his cheeks and it has helped already.

Reid is now rolling over both ways, but he still does not like to be on his belly.
He will reach for us, but not consistently. I love when he picks his arms up for me to pick him up.
When I finish changing him on his changing table I pick him up and put his arms around my neck and he squeezes me so tight and opens his mouth and tries to eat my chin. I LOVE when he does that, but I have to be careful otherwise he will grab my hair and pull it.
He can sit alone for about 10 seconds before he looses his balance. It won't be long and he will be sitting alone and playing.
He has now found his feet so changing his diaper can be hard sometimes because all he wants to do is hold onto his feet. However, when he lays on the floor he doesn't try to hold them as much.
He will try and grab my cell phone if I am holding him and trying to use it.
His favorite dvd is Yo Gabba Gabba and every time it comes on he just stares at the tv and just smiles.

I am making his baby food and he is now eating sweet potato's, squash, avocado and fruit. He continues to drink an 8oz bottle in the morning and 6oz bottles through the day and then an 8oz bottle at night.
He continues to sleep through the night. His bedtime is 5pm and he usually gets up between 6 and 7am. Everyone says how lucky we are and believe me we know and we are so thankful for his wonderful sleeping habits. He naps one to two times a day. Everyday he takes a nap at 9:30 and sleeps till about 12:30. He doesn't always sleep in the afternoon so by the time 5pm gets here he is VERY ready for bed.

We are going to get his 6 month pictures made on Friday and I can't wait. I hope we can really get him to smile and show his great personality.

In other news Justin went to play golf on Saturday and his blazer broke down at the golf course. He believes it is his transmission so we are waiting on how much that is going to cost. It always seems like something happens every 6 months. We know we will get through this its just hard being down to one car right now.

We are always trying to get a good picture of Reid smiling, but because we have to use the reduce red eye feature on the camera by the time the light comes on the camera and then it flashes three times he is done smiling. It is so frustrating. Maybe when it gets warmer we will be able to take pictures outside and capture that great smile of his.

Enjoy the pictures of our sweet boy... can you believe how beautiful his eyes are. They are so blue just like his Daddy. Looking at these pictures I can already tell how much better his cheeks are looking since we started using the Aquaphor on his cheeks.

My Wonderful Valentine

My valentines day has been wonderful. Justin and I celebrated Thursday night with me giving him his Valentines and then on Saturday afternoon Justin gave me my Valentines and then today Valentines day was all about our baby boy. He loved his Valentine. I baked Justin a heart shaped cake and wrote the word Love with m&m's on the cake and had all his favorite candy, cookies and junk food that he loves; along with a card. Then on Saturday Justin baked me heart shaped cupcakes and spelled out we love you with m&m's. He also gave me some sugar cookies a card and my most favorite part of the gift was he wrote me a poem about being his Valentine. I would post for everyone to read, but I think it would embarrass Justin too much. Anyway, the poem was so sweet and what I loved most about it was Justin included Reid in the poem and he talked about how much they love me and appreciate me. I became so teared up reading it. It is something I will treasure forever.

Sunday morning before church we gave Reid his Valentine; he loved his balloon and card. He could not get enough if his balloon. He cried when Justin took it away from him. We have had a wonderful few days and I am so thankful for my family tonight.

I am going to post later about what Reid is up to now that he is 6 months. I wanted to wait and post after Reid went for his 6 month Dr visit on Friday. I hope everyone had a wonderful valentine's and here are a few pictures of my sweet boy.

We are also posting a video of Reid playing with his balloon and Reid taking a bath. He really loves picking up his bath toys and playing with them.

Last Few Weeks

We had grandparents with us the last two weekends. My parents came and we had a great visit. They didn't get to stay long, but here is a photo of granddaddy and Reid. Again I don't know how I managed to not get a photo of Reid and Mimi.

This past weekend Justin's parents came and we had a wonderful visit. While they were here they watched Reid while I got out and about for two days. It was nice being able to go and run errands, do doctor's appointments and meet friends for lunch. Since Reid is always napping through lunch we do not get the opportuntiy to meet anyone for lunch. Sunday we went back to church for the third weekend in a row and I have to say that each time I leave him is a little easier. We plan to start back to Sunday School this Sunday. Now I will be leaving him for a little over two hours so we will see how that goes. Here are a few pictures from our visit with Reid's Kay-K and Pop.

Justin's new thing is each day when he comes home from work Justin reads two books to Reid. So far Reid seems to enjoy it. He is really touching the books and the pages trying to figure them out. Its really hard on Justin because he only gets maybe an hour each day with Reid since Reid's bedtime continues to be 5 or 5:30. Here is a picture of Justin reading to Reid. Also a little profile shot of Reid that I thought was cute.

But the Big News in our House today is that Reid is finally rolling over from back to belly and belly to back. On Christmas Eve Reid rolled from his back to belly, but has never been able to roll back over until today. I know this will make him very happy since he doesn't like to be on his stomach for long. We are so proud of our baby boy and we can't believe how fast he is growing.

Reid also ate avacado today for the first time, maybe that is what gave him all the energy and strength to rollover today. Who knows but we are very proud of our big boy.

Here is a video of our boy rolling over from his back to belly and then belly to back.
